If you are interested in joining the Whitefriars Club, we offer the opportunity to attend a few dinners and get acquainted with our club, its members, its atmosphere and events without being a full member. We meet eight times a year for dinner, normally at the Savile Club (69 Brook Street). We usually invite a prominent guest speaker to give a talk about their career or an important topic of the day.

If, after attending one or more of our dinners, you would like to be considered for membership of the Whitefriars Club, you will be introduced to our Committee Members, who may require some additional information from you before discussing and approving your application at a subsequent Committee Meeting.

Our membership includes lawyers, politicians, publishers, doctors and accomplished professionals in other disciplines, all of whom enjoy relaxing in each other’s company with stimulating conversation and an entertaining speaker. Our evenings start at 7pm with pre-dinner drinks, and dinner is served at 7.30pm. The guest speaker’s talk normally starts at 9.00pm, and the evening is brought to a close by around 10pm.

Novitiates who have been invited to become full members and have paid all dues, including the joining fee, will be introduced as “Friars” at the next dinner they attend, and presented with a copy of the history of our club (Echoes from Alsatia), a club pin, and a tie for gentlemen or a scarf for ladies.

The dress code for all our gatherings is lounge suit for gentlemen and “elegantly casual” for ladies, except when mentioned otherwise. The use of the Savile Club bar or any other rooms is permitted to our members and their guests only when invited by a member of the Savile Club.
